YEAR 4 : GRAPHIC DESIGN AND INTERACTIVITY - LE HAVRE SITE

YEAR 4

The Graphic Design and Interactivity Department aims to train young designers who will work in the fields of graphic design, multimedia and contemporary art, and who will be able to integrate into the public space. It is as much a question of shaping a professional future as of participating in the construction of their personality.

The second cycle of this department consists of three Teaching and Research Units (U.E.R) which are all specific courses within the DNSEP Graphic Design.

-       U.E.R « Design and Editions »
This U.E.R is in the field of Editorial Graphic Design (paper and web): It questions the connivances between design and poster edition, between design and contemporary editorial practices (press, book, digital), between design and literary creation. 
It is pedagogically based on graphic mediation, especially through the research groups of ESADHaR which are EDGAR (Exhibition of, Graphic Design, Acts and Research), Le Laboratoire du Voir and Edith.
This U.E.R. also draws strength and inspiration through the annual Le Havre event « Une Saison Graphique », which attracts students and visitors from all over France to Le Havre each spring. 
Pedagogical pathways with the Master of Literary Creation, co-authorised with the University of Le Havre, participate in the dynamism of this U.E.R. (projects in pairs with students of the two courses, joint classes, etc.).
ESADHaR’s art library, located in downtown Le Havre, is a venue for disseminating the achievements of the students and graphic designers invited, both through its loan fund and its exhibition programme. Publishers are regularly invited and chosen for their outstanding collections.

 

PROJECT PHASE

The objective of the second cycle entitled « project phase », is to assist the students in their research phase so that they develop an original and personal creative work and they know how to be a part of the world of graphic design, which is contemporary to us. To do so, the students must optimise the technical and theoretical skills acquired during the first cycle and acquire the additional skills needed for their approach.

The fourth year is the year in which the students can begin to prepare for the period after leaving the school and their professional integration. An internship must be carried out allowing the students to be «in a professional situation».


During the fourth year, the personal meetings with the teachers are crucial. At the beginning of semester 7 the students may choose a research director, who will monitor their work until the end of their schooling.
